On October 28, Polish clothing and home goods retailer Pepco opened its first store in Ukraine. The debut outlet, spanning 450 sq. m, began operations at Respublika Park shopping mall in Kyiv. Retail & Development Advisor (RDA), a consulting company, serves as the brand’s exclusive partner and retail expansion broker in the country.
The opening at Respublika Park officially marked the start of the European retailer’s active expansion into the Ukrainian market. The RDA team has already completed the first stage of identifying suitable locations, securing openings at leading shopping malls in Kyiv and western Ukraine.
Opening Schedule and Expansion Plans
This week, the chain will open two more stores in Kyiv. On Friday, October 30, Pepco stores will welcome customers at:
- Retroville shopping mall (Vynohradar district);
- DREAM Yellow shopping mall (Obolon district).
The next phase of expansion will cover both the capital and regional markets:
- Kyiv: opening at River Mall shopping mall;
- Chernivtsi: launch at Bukovyna Mall shopping mall;
- Ternopil: opening at Podolyany shopping mall.
Meanwhile, Retail & Development Advisor continues to work on expanding the brand’s presence in Ukraine. More than 20 promising locations are currently at the stage of commercial terms negotiations and lease agreement finalization.
Strategic Significance for the Market
The entry of an international retailer such as Pepco amid the ongoing challenges of the full-scale war is a strong positive signal for Ukraine’s commercial real estate market and the national economy as a whole. The arrival of a European brand offering affordable products broadens consumer choice, strengthens the tenant mix of its partner shopping malls, and generates steady foot traffic.
