ATB in the city center: the retailer opens the store in the capital Metrograd shopping center

The largest network in Ukraine, ATB, will become an anchor tenant in the downtown underground shopping center Metrograd in Kyiv.

The Retail & Development Advisor consulting company informed RAU. The firm was a broker when signing the rental agreement for premises for a new ATB store. Its total area will be almost 1,400 sq. m, and the retail floor space – over 730 sq. m.

According to ATB's press-office, the store has a “black” concept with the implementation of most services that have been tested within the network. Its range of goods will include over 4,000 SKU.

Let's note that the ATB commercial network comprised 1,275 stores in 2234 localities in Ukraine as at 20 October 2021. The company has opened 79 new supermarkets, and 30 more returned to work after renovation. The retailer plans to open up to 120 outlets by the end of this year.

According to preliminary data, the store's operation in Metrograd is expected to start in December this year. A new ATB will be located in the shopping center's former “Fountain District.”  There are four entrances from Basseina Street and one more at the side of the Central Quarter shopping center. As the CEO Taisia Lytovchenko tells, this location features advantages like central area, beneficial premise's configurations, and high projected traffic.

“TEC Metrograd is a historical spot with an already formed  pool of tenants and high traffic. Food retailer’s opening is a logical step towards the complex's development. Considering the lack of suitable locations and the demand for food operators in the city center, collaboration between ATB and Metrograd shopping center will be mutually beneficial in term of meeting customers' needs,” Taisia Lytovchenko believes.

In turn, Metrograd reminds that the company successfully held its first round of its shopping center's re-conception, focusing on Ukrainian output. The largest and most quality and prospective clothing, accessories, leather goods, and souvenirs retailers have been involved in this project. Later, a project to build a new food-court in the shopping center was undertaken.

“The third stage of re-conception focused on the Central Quarter and “Fountain District” started in 2020. We analyzed our customers' inquiries and saw an urgent need for food supermarkets. Then, we decided to find a partner in this sector. The cooperation with the industry-leading ATB was the result of our hard work,” Iryna Kobzar, the CEO of the Ukrainian innovation-financial company (the capital shopping center Metrograd's manager), says.
According to her, the economic downturn caused by the pandemic negative impact, struck on commerce. The shopping center's management did all the best to offset this negative influence and created the most favorable conditions for tenants. However, some retailers decided to suspend their businesses. To date, the mall's vacancy is 8%, reducing with each month.

At the same time, the managing company continues to work on tenant-mix's improvements and offers good conditions for co-operation to retailers of children's products and craft materials. The mall also plans to attract the strongerst retailers of pet products.

Reference. ATB-market is the largest network in Ukraine founded in 1993. It has comprised 1,275 stores in various regions throughout the country as at 20 October, 2021.
